The Bellevue High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is announcing its 2017 Inductee Class. The 2017 class will we be the 14th class to enter the Athletic Hall of Fame. The 14th class will consist of 1961 graduate Glen Miller, 1990-2009 Head Wrestling Coach Jim DePolo, 1991 graduate Nikki Schwiefert, 2007 graduate Derrick Berberick, and 2007 graduate Jeffery Pelton. The 1984 State Championship Girls Track 3200 M. Relay Team will also be inducted. Members of this team were Karen (Lepley) Irons, Kim (Gillette) Glazebrook, Jami (Verhoff) Garman, and Tara (Chase) Kirk. Also, Sleepy Hollow Golf Course will be the 2017 “Big Red” Service Award Recipient for their outstanding efforts and support of the Redmen Athletic Program.
The Bellevue Athletic Hall of Fame weekend is scheduled for August 25 & 26. The 2017 Hall of Fame Class will be introduced to the home football crowd on Friday, August 25 vs. Canton Central Catholic. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 26.
Tickets for the dinner and ceremony on August 26 will be available to the general public starting July 31. Tickets for the dinner and ceremony will be $25.00. Ceremony only tickets will cost $10.00
The Hall of Fame Committee would like to thank everyone for their nominations and welcome more each year. 37 nominations were on file for the committee to review and consider this past year. The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee will add any nomination to their nomination list and will consider for the 2018 Induction Class.
