New Science Book
Check out our NEW 6th Grade Science Book!
We're beginning our new Science textbook in January. We will start by finishing up the content standards we need to cover in Physical Science. We will follow that with Life Science, and then cover Earth Science in the Spring (when we can hopefully get outside for some labs).

What's Going on in Sixth Grade Science?
This week the students are working with partners to build model houses that are heated with solar energy. First, they came up with designs that they thought would be the most efficient. They had to start with a shoebox, and had the option to bring in other "recyclable" materials from home. At school, they used plastic wrap, aluminum foil, construction paper, and some other items to create their energy-saving model. We will be testing the models by recording remperatures before, during, and after exposure to heat lamps. Who knows ... we may have a future "eco-friendly" architect right here at York School!
