Welcome to Second Grade Powerpoint Presentation Welcome to Second Grade! This will be such a fun year. I am excited and looking forward to another great year working at my elementary alma mater and working with each one of you! Day 1: Gym Day 2: Library Day 3: Music Day 4: Gym Day 5: Art Day 6: Music
This year your child will bring home a “Homework Notebook” every night. This will be used to keep you informed about upcoming events, homework, and daily behavior/attitude. You will notice a square with the date colored in reflecting the kind of day your child had at school.
Green = Your child had a great day Yellow = Your child needed a reminder today Red = If the reminded behavior continues your child will miss recess and receive a Discipline Reminder (DR).
Please review the homework with your child, check his or her color for the day, and sign the notebook. If you have any questions or reminders for your child, you can write it in there, as it is checked everyday.

Earning Money & The Class Store |
|
Your child will also have an opportunity to earn “money” at school based on their classroom participation and behavior. This means if they check in, put up their buying or packing slip and start their morning work promptly, they could earn up to three dollars just in the morning. With the money they earn at school they will have an opportunity to purchase from the classroom store that I will open once a month. I will also have a snack bar open once a month in which they can purchase a snack, drink or both. (If you would like to donate items to the store or the snack bar it would be greatly appreciated). Along with earning money they can also loose money. They loose money by not getting their notebook signed, not completing homework, not sharpening their pencil at the appropriate time, using the restroom in the middle of a lesson and things of that nature. Please note that the students are given ample time in the mornings to complete what is expected of them throughout the day. This is teaching them to be responsible and think ahead. With that being said they can also earn more money, by doing something especially nice or out of the ordinary, getting compliments of quietness in the hallway, answering difficult in class questions and things of that nature. |
