Curriculum is the very essence of what we do. It is comprised of three basic parts: content, skills and assessment. Content refers to the Ohio Academic Content Standards. Skills are those abilities that prepare students for increasingly complex life and work in the 21st century, including creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration. Assessment is the demonstration of individual student, grade, building and district student learning (achievement). Aligning curriculum, instruction and assessments (mapping) to the Ohio Academic Content Standards is a primary focus. The district uses NWEA MAP Testing to measure individual student achievement and connects that data to the research of Robert J. Marzano's effective instructional strategies. Response to Intervention (RTI) is utilized as well to meet the differentiated learning styles and needs of our students. All curricular initiatives are coordinated through district wide professional development programs assisting all staffs with the resources and support to help every student achieve.
