"To nurture and support each child’s unique development through meaningful partnerships which empower families and promote genuine, caring learning environments."

Who Are We?
Meet our staff/Contact us
Early childhood education staff include the Early Childhood Coordinator, Itinerant Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) teachers, and Speech and Language Pathologists. All staff members are trained to provide special education services for young children with developmental delays.
What Do We Do?
The Bellevue Schools early childhood staff provide a variety of services in the community. Free developmental screenings are offered to search for children who may have developmental delays. Indepth evaluation is provided for children with suspected delays in vision, hearing, cognitive (thinking), communication, daily living, social-emotional, or motor skills. An individualized education plan is designed for children who are eligible with identified developmental delays. The itinerant ECSE teacher and therapists work with the child, his/her parents, and teacher or care giver to help the child learn and develop. Evaluation and special education services are free for eligible children.
Where Do We Go?
"Itinerant" refers to a person who travels from place to place. Itinerant ECSE staff travel around the Bellevue community to provide services for children in their natural daily settings. We provide specialized services for eligible children in their homes, kindergarten classrooms, and community day care and preschool programs, including First United Methodist Day Care, ICS Preschool, St. John's Christian Preschool, St. Paul's Christian Day Care, Bellevue City School District Preschool housed at Seybert United Methodist Church, and the WSOS Child Devleopment Center.
