Mrs. Stiles' Fourth Grade Class

Reading and Writing
We have been busy reading a variety of fiction and nonfiction books. Students are learning to answer extended questions by using the textin order to build their comprehension. The most recent stories that we have read dealt with the rainforest and national parks. Students learned about the different habitats, people, and animals that live in these two environments.
Students wrapped up the unit by pairing up with a classmate to do research on a national park here in the United States. They researched their park by using the computer lab and encyclopedia to create a travel brochure of their park. These brochures are on display outside of the classroom. The students did an excellent job!

Learn Those Facts!
Math is all about multiplication and division. Every student has made flashcards with their multiplication facts. Division flashcards will soon be sent home as well. These must be practiced every night! Some helpful games to help your child are Multiplication War and Baseball Multiplication. These games are fun for the entire family to play. Look for directions to be coming home real soon!

November Book Report
The November book report is due on the last Friday of the month. Students will select their own Accelerated Reader book to read for the month. Each student will then have to make a poster about their book, and write a report. I will be sending an outline home so that your child will know what needs to be included in the report.
