| The eighth grade students of Bellevue Middle School have a unique opportunity to participate in the ";Paths to Peace: War of 1812 Arts Legacy Project";. This internationally collaborative program involves the U.S National Park Service, War of 1812 Historical Sites in Canada and the U.S., Canadian middle schools, and community leaders of at least four municipalities. The project seeks to pair communities in the US and Canada. Bellevue Middle School will pair with a school in Amherstburg, Ontario. Our students will travel to South Bass Island twice and one trip to Amherstburg, Ontario to meet with Canadian students. Following the students first trip to South Bass Island, they will spend six months back in their communities researching its ties to the War, artists/craftspeople of the time, peace movements, and international relations. It is anticipated that the work created will focus upon the values of peace and international diplomacy, then and now. | ||||||||||||||
