Race to the Top (RttT)
Race to the Top is a federally funded grant to assist all Bellevue teachers and principals, PK-12, to prepare every student to be college and career ready.  In our second year of participation, the district is led by a Transformation Team that is responsible for the success of each of our RttT initiatives.

 Right to Intervention (RTI)
RTI is a researched based program using data analysis to improve student learning.  Response to Intervention provides support for students who are struggling in school and enrichment for those needing additional challenges.  Interventions are used, monitored and even changed to fit the individual needs of a student or group of students.

 Formative Instructional Practices (FIP)
This practice is used in all classrooms, allowing teachers the ability to immediately check for students’ understanding of a lesson. The information gathered is used to guide teachers with planning their teaching activities while providing students with immediate feedback concerning the students’ learning of the concept. Formative instructional practices are not graded, but are used to inform teacher and students of the success of their teaching and learning respectively.

 Instructional Planner/Curriculum Mapper
Collaborative Learning Inc.’s computer-based program helps teachers to create daily lesson plans, units of instruction as well as curriculum maps. This program provides opportunities for teachers to collaborate with one another on units of instruction within a subject and/or a grade level.   Instruction Planner is fully integrated with the Common Core and New Content Standards.

MAP Testing
This is a computer based test program from the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) that is offered for primary (K-2) grades and for reading, math and language usage in grades 3-8.  During a MAP testing session, students are presented questions at their computer.  Question difficulty automatically adjusts based on a student’s response to each question.  Test results help teachers to create groups for intervention (RTI) as well as guide their teaching. Teachers are also able to use MAP testing to show student yearly growth. Currently, we benchmark students in the fall, winter and spring of each year in kindergarten through 8th grade.
