Rennaissance Bellevue Senior High is a Renaissance school. The objective of this program is to regularly recognize and reward academic accomplishment by the students of BSHS. The beauty of this program is that all students can benefit from this, not just the honor roll students. To receive a Renaissance card a student must show evidence of success in: Academics, Attendance, Discipline, Service Possession of a Renaissance card will entitle the student to a number of rewards and recognition. These cards must be renewed each grading period. Information and application forms will be made available at appropriate times during the school year. The Renaissance logo is of significant importance to this project. • the two eagles represent the world of education and the world of business coming together to encourage students to strive for success in all aspects of student life. • the circle signifies that the effort to improve education must be complete and involve people from many sectors -- both in and out of the schoolhouse. • the name “Renaissance” literally means rebirth: a renewal of youthful vigor, freshness, zest, and productivity. • the “Renaissance” logo is spelled using Old English type at the beginning, and gradually changing to modern type to symbolize the belief that change in education must come about by keeping what’s good of the old and combining it with the new. This definition of the Renaissance program provides direction and focus for Bellevue Senior High School -- its staff, students, and community. Renaissance schools return to their roots by re-dedicating themselves to academic achievement. They accomplish this by challenging conventional thinking and developing innovative solutions. It is our sincere hope that all readers of this handbook will understand and subscribe themselves to this Renaissance philosophy. Our mission is to teach students not only how to walk, but also where to walk.
