Language Arts is the teaching of reading,writing,and spelling. Each month we incorporate those three subject areas with an essential understanding. For example,in December our topic is "Imagination". Our reading selections truly are topics of imagination and the writing evolves around description through our senses, showing students' imagination. Teaching in this thematic way makes connection out of all we accomplish and is very rewarding for the children when completing the final project.
My main focus for this year is fluency of vocabulary through fun activities. After 32 years in the Bellevue system teaching is still fun! There's never a day that someone doesn't put a smile on my face. |
